The moment life encounters a space, both realities are altered forever. There is no going back, no replaying, no way to even see how that experience will alter every moment that follows. Yet, each moment matters. Each grain of sand works together to form the bank, and the bank still exists even if some of the sand is gone. The memory always fades, yet we grasp the air and hope to hold on!
This series of work explores my womanhood and the women who have influenced me by relating moments in my life to the spaces where they happened. I re-imagined portraits of these women by combining family photos with text written by women of color.
